My Samhain thought for 2009

On the eaves of my booth at the New York Renaissance Faire, I had the following words painted:

Strive towards thy dreams
Keep pure thine ideals
Seek what be within
Let nothing stop thee

I'm sure hundreds of people have read those words as they walked past the booth. They are excerpts from The Charge of the Goddess by Doreen Valiente, translated into "Ren Faire speech" and shortened for brevity. The passages from the Charge from which those phrases come are:

Keep pure your highest ideal; strive ever towards it; let naught stop you or turn you aside.

... if that which thou seekest thou findest not within thee, then thou wilt never find it without thee.

I wish I could have found a way to put the final sentence of the Charge on my booth:

For behold, She has been with thee from the beginning; and She is that which is attained at the end of desire.

I hope that in, in some small way, I was able to communicate those ideals to those who walked into my booth.
